The Indian Encampment area allows for us to explore various artifacts and environments in which many lived. From walking into the underground house to exploring the teepees, students will get to have a hands-on experience.
Students will use this experience to gain a brief insight as to the life of a Native American Indian. We will research locations in Kansas where these types of areas were and may still be today. We will also recreate a game children played.

Lesson plan idea: Students will research the various Native American tribes that came to Kansas using the webpage

Students will be assigned a tribe to do a short report on which will include where it originated from, how it arrived in Kansas and when, and if it is still an active tribe today. Students will use pictures and facts to create a poster that will showcase the tribe they are researching. The posters will be displayed around the room.
